A téma rövid leírása, a kidolgozandó feladat részletezése:
A geopolimerek a kötőanyagok új családjának tekinthetők. A geopolimer rendszerek alkalmazásával a cementgyártás környezetre gyakorolt káros hatása csökkenthető. A jövőben a geopolimer kötőanyagokkal a hagyományos cement gyártmányok helyettesíthetők.
A friss tulajdonságok (pl. konzisztencia, bedolgozhatóság, eltarthatóság) a geopolimer kompozitok alkalmazhatóságának fontos jellemzői.

The geopolymer binder is an inorganic polymeric system that solidifies at room or elevated temperature. The geopolymerization is a chemical reaction between aluminum silicates and alkali metal silicate solutions under alkaline conditions. The product is a three-dimensional polymeric structure. Geopolymer binders are aluminosilicate materials, which differ significantly from the phases can be found in the cementitious materials (clinker hydrate phases: CSH and CAH phases). In addition to the rate of solidification, durability and transport phenomena also differing from the cementitious materials. Most of the geopolymers are produced by the utilization of industrial waste that is geographically available and therefore has a different composition, e.g. fly ash, slags, waste glass, red mud, etc. The different compositions and conditions of the raw materials provide different reactivity, which means that the application of the geopolymer has many difficulties and should study extensively.
Geopolymers can be considered, as a new family of binding materials. With the application of geopolymer systems the high impact of the cement manufacturing on the environment can be reduced. In the near future geopolymer binders can be used to replace the ordinary cement productions.
With geopolymer binders composite materials (e.g. mortar, concrete, fibre reinforced composites) can be created and can be used to structural purposes or to embed dangerous wastes. This way the goals of sustainable development and the principles of environmental awareness can be enforced.
The aim of the research is to optimize the properties of geopolymer binders, which can be made by knowing the physical and chemical characteristics of the raw materials. During the first part of the research the geopolymer binders are experimentally studied and optimized by the fresh properties (e.g. viscosity) and by the hardened characteristics. Then the composite systems (geopolymer mortar or concrete) are extensively studied. Fresh properties (e.g. consictency, workability, shelf life) are important measures of the applicability of the geopolymer composites. In addition to the mechanical characteristics, microstructure, shrinkage, leaching, durability, and transport properties are also experimentally studied. As the results of the research new scientific results are expected as well as design methodology of geopolymer binders and composites are proposed for different purposes.
